While borders are still generally closed for now, there are actually tons of attractions and adventures to be enjoyed right here in Singapore. Why not plan for a weekend of fun with your besties – it’s time to be a tourist in your own country. You’d be surprised how enjoyable it is to see this little red dot from another perspective.
Show up bright and early at Gardens by the Bay for a peaceful morning, sans the crowds, to soak up the best of what the two famous conservatories – Flower Dome and Cloud Forest – have to offer. At the former, you’ll have the chance get up close and personal with plants that are native to a wide range of unique habitats – from the Mediterranean region, to South African savannahs as well as arid deserts! Take this chance to explore the nine gardens and see the best of exotic flora from five continents.
Over at Cloud Forest, you’ll ascend the Cloud Mountain after spending some time admiring the towering 35-metre indoor waterfall that greets you just as you step past the doors. Snap some photos for the ‘gram, then be temporarily transported into tropical mountain regions found in Southeast Asia, as well as Central and South America.
And if you’ve been missing the cool weather found overseas, you’ll be happy to be here at the conservatories, where temperatures hover in the range of 23 to 25 degrees – perfect for whisking you away from hot and humid Singapore, just for a morning.
Gardens By The Bay is located at 18 Marina Gardens Drive, Singapore 018953.
Make your way from one garden to another. Your next destination is The Halia – yes, that famous elegant restaurant that sits in the heart of Singapore’s first UNESCO World Heritage Site: the Botanic Gardens. Take a breather and grab a bite here, before embarking on 90 minutes of fun as you learn how to craft unique botanical beverages using herbs and spices. Bring home these recipes that the Bar Herbalists have created and put them to good use the next time you host a house party.
The Halia is located at 1 Cluny Road, Ginger Garden Singapore Botanic Gardens, Singapore 259569.
End the day on a high note with an activity so unique, it’s almost unheard of. Hop into a vintage Vespa sidecar and weave through roads less-travelled while you discover hidden gems as well as some of the city’s top spots. Scoot through some of Singapore’s hippest hoods and enjoy the breeze and sights, before heading to some of the best restaurants and bars in town for an evening filled with epic moments.
The pick-up location for this activity is at 71 Sultan Gate, Kampong Glam, Singapore 198496.
Start your day at Adventure Cove Waterpark, which is home to 13 water rides and attractions, as well as 20,000 fish. This is where the hours will fly by as you race down the various water slides, laze away on a float at the Adventure River, and snorkel with tropical fish. Set aside some time to go on the region’s first hydro-magnetic coaster (think a high-speed rollercoaster on the water): Riptide Rocket. One thing’s for sure – there’s a wave of fun around every corner here.
Adventure Cove Waterpark is located at 8 Sentosa Gateway, Singapore 098269.
After a morning full of fun, it’s time to take a breather while enjoying priceless views of southern Singapore. Hop into a cable car at Mount Faber Peak, and soak up the sights from way up high! If you’re feeling hungry after the scenic ride, you’ll be glad to know that a delicious lunch awaits at Arbora Hilltop Garden & Bistro, a unique restaurant set amidst the greenery of Mount Faber.
Mount Faber Peak is located at 109 Mount Faber Road, Singapore 099203.
Psych yourself up for an afternoon of breathtaking moments when you check-in at Skypark Sentosa by AJ Hackett, which sits in the heart of Siloso Beach. This is where you’ll get to channel your inner daredevil and live that YOLO life as you bungy jump from a tiny platform that’s a whopping 47 metres high.
If you’re not into taking that leap of faith, consider a ride on the Giant Swing, the only double swing of its kind in the world, which will leave you and your best friend feeling exhilarated. There’s also the option of taking a walk across the Skybridge, which is an exposed bridge that features sections of see-through glass floorings for those who are feeling brave.
Or why not just sign yourself up for all three experiences to amp up the thrill factor?
Skypark Sentosa by AJ Hackett is located at 30 Siloso Beach Walk, Singapore 099011.
